Wow - what a gig!
Played over 4 hours with only a couple of breaks.
Martin Baker (a real character who was the spitting image of a famous jockey) came for the third time in three days; Dirk Benson - a fellow muso came for the second time and guested on Mustang Sally. Finally, the immortal Henry Harvey sang a blues number (he’s a real old mate of Tony’s and wears the exactly the same type of black hat).
Another ‘memorable’ moment was when a drunk came out of the toilet, fell over and took the PA speaker with him - and the speaker came crashing down on Danny’s Hammond keyboard; it was a great advert for Hammond because no permanent damage was done - except (for some reason or other the foot control fused - but the show soon resumed!).
So - the end of a great weekend; little did we know that the ‘Standard’ would book us for two nights in 2007.
